Through research, technical assistance to communities and decision-makers, policy analyses, and facilitation of collaborative and participatory efforts, EAC develops and deploys evidence-based strategies that inform planning, policies and decision-making at the state, regional and local levels. The EAC team works in close collaboration with experts from the Bloustein School and throughout the University to implement strategies that effectively integrate science into planning and policy development. EAC also works closely with non-governmental organizations, community leaders, policy-makers, and business leaders to facilitate meaningful participatory decision-making processes. EAC includes the National Center for Neighborhood and Brownfields Redevelopment , The Sustainable Raritan River Initiative , and the Center for Transportation Safety, Security and Risk . Members of the EAC team also support and facilitate several collaborative university-wide initiatives including: The Rutgers Raritan River Consortium The New Jersey Climate Adaptation Alliance The Planning Healthy Communities Initiative The Coastal Risk and Resilience Training Program In addition to research, technical assistance, policy analyses and collaborative efforts, members of the EAC team mentor students and teach coursework including: Environmental planning and design; Research Methods; Geographic Information Systems; Graduate Planning Design Studios; Integrating health into community planning; Transportation Safety, Security and Risk; Communicating science with decision-makers EAC also serves as the Editorial Office for two peer-reviewed journals, the Journal of Planning Education and Research , a publication of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning (ACSP), and Risk Analysis , an international journal of the Society for Risk Analysis (SRA).
